Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, at Lynn Massachusetts. She is the eldest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. After her father died in the role of a carnival barker when Ruth was just an infant and she was forced to support the family working both as a cook and server. Ruth grew in a poor Boston tenement community in Massachusetts. She was a student there. The school she was attending within two years of her education to pursue acting as a profession. Her chosen path proved to be filled with challenges and In New York, she obtained an opportunity to pose for stills in a magazine for crime, but theatrical work eluded her. Then, after a stint as a club hat girl after which she decided to come back home to the United States and quit her job. She was an usherette during the early morning hours and also appeared at the New England Repertory Company by night, which was her first ever permanent acting job. She was a drama student at the Bishop-Lee Theatre School and graduated.
